Special Education Admissions Expert Wendy Federico Joins NYC Admissions Solutions
New York, NY — NYC Admissions Solutions (NYCAS) is proud to announce the addition of special education admissions expert Wendy Federico to our team of school admissions professionals. Prior to joining NYC Admissions Solutions, Wendy was the admissions director at two of the top special education schools in NYC, and she has over 30 years of experience in the field. Wendy’s distinguished background includes advanced degrees in clinical social work, early childhood education, and school administration.
As a tireless advocate for the educational rights of children with special learning needs, Wendy first reviews the historical documentation to get a sense of the student’s level of function, as well as the services that have been in place to support those needs. Wendy can assist parents in designing and executing strategies for pursuing both mainstream and special education options. Wendy has extensive experience, knowledge, and expertise to support families during the often emotionally draining and challenging special education placement process.
While Director of Admissions at The Churchill School, Wendy served on the executive board of the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY). While serving as Director of Admissions at both Churchill and The Lowell School, Wendy served as a liaison between the school and the Committee on Special Education (CSE) and attended IEP (Individualized Education Program) and CSE meetings as both school representative and parent advocate. Wendy co-founded a group of special education admissions professionals in 2005, now known as T-SSeal, (Tri-State Special Education Admissions Leaders), and now serves on their executive board as Co-President. Since 2018 Wendy has also served as an adjunct professor in the graduate division of Concordia College, teaching courses such as Child Development in the Special Needs Child and Teaching Students With Autism and Severe/Profound Disabilities.
